Midsummer Fun in the Sun

Midsummer Fun in the Sun 2016

Sun June 26th 2-6 pm

Cauldron of Ages welcomes and invites you to celebrate the sacred Sabbat Midsummer: Fun in the sun. Midsummer is also known to many as the Summer Solstice or Litha. The gardens are blooming, and summer is in full swing. The summer solstice honors the longest day of the year. This is the time that we should take advantage of the extra hours of daylight and spend as much time as we can outdoors.

Midsummer’s main focus is celebrating the power of the sun. It’s the time of year when the crops are growing heartily and the earth has warmed up. We can spend long sunny afternoons enjoying the outdoors, and getting back to nature under the long daylight hours. What is the better way in celebrating that by having an outdoor communal worship and feast with our brothers and sisters of the community. as we bask in the sun with good ole fashion fun in the sun with family and friends.

No Pagan celebration is complete without a meal to go along with it. For Litha, celebrate with foods that honor the fire and energy of the sun. Foods that are showcased this time of year are Fiery grilled salmon, spicy and sweet candied ginger, Potato Salad of all kinds, asparagus, lavender, anise, cinnamon, cheese, pineapple, bananas, lavender, apples, mangos, coconut, green onions, red onions, honey, tomatoes, cucumbers, cilantro, parsley, basil, mayonnaise, boiled eggs, capers, chives, dill, lemon, pumpernickel, strawberries, fruits of the season such as lemons and oranges, summer squash and any yellow or orange colored foods. Meats that associated with midsummer are chicken or pork.
